Contract
Your contract of employment will be determined by a number of factors such as the number of hours that you will work, how frequently you will work and the job that you will be performing. Our contract is subject to a 3 month probationary period and the receipt of 2 satisfactory written references. Some jobs, if working with children, will also require a satisfactory Disclosure check.
Everything in your contract will be explained when you join us and undergo our induction programme.

The salary/wages will be agreed with you if an offer of employment is made. We normally review salaries and wages at the end of each calendar year. Your full entitlements will be made clear in your contract.

Team Member Support
Everyday has its challenges and stresses. Sometimes these pressures are exciting and rewarding, however, on occasions, the pressure of our jobs and personal lives can lead to stress having an impact on our health and work. at Fish and Feather we have an open door policy on team members who need to talk.
Training and Development
When you join Fish and Feather we don't just look at you for who you are now - we look at you for who you could be in the future. We see training & development as an absolute necessity - there's no lip service paid to it in Fish and Feather! We see it as a necessity because in order for us to deliver great service to our customers and each other we have to feel comfortable and confident in our roles and the only way to achieve that is by making sure each and everyone of us knows and has the right skills to do it effectively.
You'll see our commitment from Day 1 when we'll introduce you to Fish and Feather and the team members you will be working with. We call this our Just ask programme because quite literally if you have a query all you have to do is ask... Just ask incorporates a specific training programme detailing the various areas of your job that you need to be competent in.
We're proud of the fact that much of our training is delivered internally by probably some of the best trainers and most experienced team members in our sector. All of our programmes are interactive, educational and the important ingredient FUN! When we recognise we don't have the necessary skill internally we work hard to find the right company to work with - a company who shares our ways of working and values.
Who we are looking for
Every role within Fish and Feather has a role profile. The purpose of the role profile is to help us all really understand the "nuts & bolts" of our job. A role profile will be offered to all candidates prior to the first interview.
Whilst the tasks that each of us does may be different from one job to another the way we conduct ourselves whilst doing them is the same across the whole of Fish and Feather.
We believe that the way we show the world who we are is by the way we behave with each other and our customers. Don't worry if you don't fit the traditional "pet shop" stereotype or if you don't have any experience in retail. It's who you are and who you can be that we are most interested in.
Still think you have what it takes? GREAT! Click here to apply online now. The application will take between 5 and 10 minutes.
